Photographer's Notes

I consider my image “Old Town Guide Model” to be my signature piece. The canoe was built in 1935 by the Old Town Canoe Company in Old Town Maine (of course!) and was purchased by my father around 1960. Old Town still makes many models of canoe and the “Guide Model” was designed for Maine Guides. My father restored it and it has been in constant use since then with a third generation of my family paddling her all over New England’s lakes and rivers. The photograph was simply taken of her at dawn in the fog of Moosehead Lake.

Print Description

Old Town Guide Model is a large format fine art photography print captured on film by Mike Sleeper. The image centers on the Old Town Guide Model vessel, highlighting its surface textures, precise lines, and the quiet interplay of geometry within a restrained, spacious composition. Subtle light reveals the canoe’s contours and material presence, inviting a contemplative focus on form and balance.

Available as large or extra large wall art in limited editions, printed locally and hand-assembled. Suited for home, office, or hospitality environments.
